Audience members attending The Unpredictable Adventures of Henry Hicklebee enthusiastically engaged their cell phones to help Henry Hicklebee on his musical journey of discovery. From New York to Russia to Africa or Spain, Henry’s travels and the accompanying music were determined by the audience’s texted votes. Conceptually created and also conducted by Artistic Director Adam Stich, this original production featured notable local performer Matt Newhard in the lead role and engaged ProMusica’s full orchestra and chorale to bring the sounds of different countries to the acoustically acclaimed Camelback Bible Church. Backed in part by a grant from the Arizona Art Tank, the concert presented classical music in a way that could engage people of all ages in today’s world of connectivity and technology and further fulfill ProMusica’s mission to engage and support both a multi-generational audience and a multi-generational roster of volunteer performers.
This was the final concert of ProMusica Arizona's 2014-15 season, but next season’s schedule is already being planned with an American theme including a commemoration of 150 years since the Civil War, American music from past and present, and a celebration of our National Parks.
